In 1979, the album Breakfast In America was the most popular album on the planet, with more than 20 million copies sold. In Canada, nearly 1 million copies sold including more than 400,000 in Quebec alone.

In the same year, Supertramp organized a huge tour in Europe and North America. It was during this tour that the album Live in Paris was recorded, the same year that Montreal welcomed the British band to Jarry Park for two grandiose shows with Jean-Luc Ponty as the opening act, which still marks the imagination of fans who had the pleasure of attending.
