Before you arrive
Many of the activities are messy and some require students to be in loose clothing for unrestricted movement. Please dress appropriately.
All programming spaces are fully accessible. If your group has any special needs, please mention them when making your booking.
What to expect when you arrive
Ample free parking is available on site for buses and adult supervisors. It is preferred that the students are dropped off at the first floor entrance, on the north side, facing Highway 174. Take Brisebois Crescent off of Centrum Boulevard to the rear of the centre. You will be met at the rear entrance by Arts Centre staff.
A studio space with tables and chairs will be reserved for your visit. You will leave your coats, boots, bags, etc. here while you participate in your workshops. You return to this room for any scheduled breaks or meals. Participants must provide their own lunches and snacks. There are various restaurants and delivery services in the area if required, and there are drink and snack vending machines on site. Water fountains are located near washrooms on the lower level. We cannot guarantee a nut-free environment.
You will be guided to and from your workshops by Arts Centre staff.
Your activities will be led by friendly, experienced arts professionals in purpose-built studios. These instructors will ensure your workshops are fun and interesting. All workshops are 1.5 hours in length.
We require a minimum of 15 students per activity, with a maximum of 30 per activity. The minimum charge for a workshop will be the cost of 15 participants.
Adult supervisors are encouraged to assist in overseeing the comportment of students during the delivery of programs and will be invited to help should our teachers require assistance with student discipline. A ratio of one adult for every ten students is required. All adult supervisors are admitted at no charge, but the arts activities are planned for the number of students we are given. Any adults joining activities that use art supplies will be required to pay the workshop provider for those activities. Please let us know in advance how many adults are accompanying the students.
School visits are offered Monday to Friday between 9 am and 3 pm during the school year.
It is strongly advised that groups arrive on site 15 minutes before the start of activities.
Each visit is custom-made. Studios are booked, instructors are scheduled and supplies are purchased and/or prepared based on the information you provide us. Bookings must be made at least one (1) month prior to the preferred date of your visit.

Method of payment
All payments are made in advance of your visit.
Upon booking your workshops, you will be required to sign an agreement confirming the details of your visit. Your visit cannot be confirmed with the workshop providers without the signed agreement.
Upon our receipt of the signed agreement, a City of Ottawa invoice for a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the estimated total fee will be issued.
Changes to the number of participants or to the workshops can be accommodated no later than 10 business days before the date of the visit. At this time, the City of Ottawa will issue a final invoice for the balance of payment.
- Half day: $20/student (two 1.5-hr. activities) plus HST
- Full day: $30/student (three 1.5-hr. activities) plus HST
Prices include all materials, except for Gloucester Pottery School workshops. In order for students to keep their hand-built clay artworks, these pieces must be fired. This process takes 2 weeks. Artwork may be picked up at the Centre when complete. Please add $5.00, plus HST, per student.
Please note that because of the firing time, we cannot take bookings for pottery workshops beyond the first Friday in June.
If you cancel your visit within 10 business days of the date of your visit, the 20% deposit will be forfeited. Schools will not be charged for cancelling a reservation due to inclement weather and the resulting cancellation of bus service. Attempts will be made to re-book your visit in the same programming year.
If you are interested in trying out one workshop only, or would like to know if these workshops can come to your school, please contact the arts partners directly.
