Nikamu Mamuitun – Chansons rassembleuses: Mamowi – Ensemble
Since 2017, Nikamu Mamuitun has been celebrating encounters between Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists through music. For this new edition, Mimi O’Bonsawin (Abenaki, Ontario), Sandrine Masse (Wendat, Wendake), Pako (Attikamek, Manawan), Freddy Cluney (Innu, Kawawachikamach) and Willows (Red River Métis, Manitoba) – and three non-Indigenous artists – Mariko (Sainte-Émilie-de-l’Énergie), Velours Velours (Sainte-Anne-des-Monts/Trois-Rivières) and Luan Larobina (Latino-Gaspésian, Douglastown) – unite their voices to create a shared repertory and reach out to audiences.
Under the musical direction of Ivan Boivin-Flamand and the artistic direction of Guillaume Arsenault, this project will result in an album recorded in the Makusham studio and an original performance created in Petite-Vallée in fall 2025. Through exchange and transfer, Nikamu Mamuitun makes the meeting of cultures resonate, celebrating the creativity of cross-cultural music. An authentic and powerful performance that attests to unique human and artistic bonds.
