Experience the richness of Bharatanatyam with Jayadev Raju in a solo performance!

Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance, ancient in origin and widely practiced and performed. It embodies a distinctive technique of movement, expression and drama, together with a sacredness in performing.

Jayadev Raju is an Ottawa-based Bharatanatyam dancer with over 20 years of freelance performances in Canada. In continuing his training with Guru Sheela Chandrashekar (Ottawa), Jayadev's solo performance in a Bharatanatyam Margam is the first of a two-part traditional path of presentation. The performance is based on a variety of multilingual (Tamil, Sanskrit, Telugu and Hindi) poetry and songs, with commissioned music arranged by noted Carnatic musician Kalaimamani B.V. Balasai (India). Jayadev’s repertoire includes traditional to modern themes and choreography emphasizing technique, form content and creativity, forming the main objective of the Bharatanatyam margam, presented in English and French.
