Encore Ottawa - Season 2

Presented by Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC)

Tune in for the Encore Ottawa Season 2 series premiere on Friday, June 11 at 8 pm on Rogers TV Channel 22. You can also join the artists on Rogers TV Ottawa’s YouTube Channel for the Encore Ottawa Watch Party and live chat. This two-hour special will include one song from every artist’s half-hour set.

After the June 11 premiere, the full concerts will air as double-header shows on Rogers TV Ottawa (cable & free streaming).

Following the successful pilot of Encore Ottawa, a series of 16 pre-recorded concerts featuring over 40 local musicians which aired weekly on RogersTV throughout the winter of 2021, Encore Ottawa Season 2 gets even more ambitious. Featuring 23 performances with 60+ local musicians, showcasing a diverse array of genres of music, with artists ranging from emerging to Juno award-winning bands. The performers were each recipients of the Ottawa Music Development Fund COVID-19 Relief Grant in 2020, selected by a jury composed of local professionals in the arts and culture sector.

Encore Ottawa Season 2 was filmed at the Shenkman Arts Centre in winter 2021. These live tapings adhered to the health and safety guidelines of Ottawa Public Health and the Province of Ontario at all times. View Encore Ottawa Production Safety notes.

After a year of lockdown, which has essentially shuttered the live events industry, virtual concerts have become the norm. Seeking to continue connecting Ottawa residents to their local musicians and provide performing opportunities for local artists, the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC), partnered with the Shenkman Arts Centre, Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe, the City of Ottawa, Rogers TV and Apartment613, to form Encore Ottawa: a series of live pre-recorded concerts featuring all-original, all-Ottawa acts. These high-quality video showcases will give Ottawa acts the opportunity to develop new audiences both locally and abroad.

“I’m so proud to be part of OMIC’s, Encore Ottawa part 2! It felt so good to be on a beautiful stage belting out tunes in full force. I can’t wait to tune in to see all of Encore 2.” - singer-songwriter Kimberly Sunstrum

We continue to grow our local talent and are pleased to partner with Ottawa Music Industry Coalition, Apt613 and Rogers TV for Encore 2. The first round of concerts was exceptional and we’re excited to share 23 new performances that help grow our city’s music industry and promote our local musicians and music professionals.” - Mayor Jim Watson

“After the success of Encore Ottawa Season 1, the Shenkman Arts Centre is delighted to continue our partnership with OMIC, Apt613 and Rogers TV to bring you a second season. These performances showcase some of the tremendous talent in Ottawa and we are so excited to share them with you.” - Jahn Fawcett, Acting Artistic Producer and Portfolio Manager for Shenkman Arts Centre and Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe

About Encore Ottawa

Produced by the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition in partnership with Rogers TVApartment613Shenkman Arts Centre and Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe, Encore Ottawa is a unique collaboration between non-profit organizations, local arts media, and the City of Ottawa; made possible thanks to Ontario Creates and the Ottawa Music Development Fund. Designed to meet the needs of local musicians whose opportunities to perform and record are drastically limited by necessary COVID-19 safety measures, these high quality video showcases will give Ottawa acts the opportunity to develop new audiences both locally and abroad. The project granted artist fees to more than 100 professional musicians and generated weeks of work for the Shenkman Arts Centre technical staff, whose state-of-the-art venue was dark due to COVID-19 cancellations.
