Teen Portfolio Development (English)

SAC - OSA - F16ST01B Teen Portfolio
This course will focus on developing students’ observational skills while focusing on tone, form, proportion, likeness, depth, composition and texture. Special attention will be given to portraiture, life drawing and still life. Students will work from a model in preparation for the Canterbury visual arts interview. Through a variety of painting, drawing, mixed media and sculpture projects, students will refine their skills and develop a substantial body of work. This course will cover all of the requirements for the Canterbury visual arts portfolio. Also available to teens wanting to attend De la Salle or pursuing their own interest in art. This course is open to new and returning students. (Tuition includes one draped model.)

Students are asked to bring their own sketchbooks each class.

Do you love drawing, and want to learn more about watercolour painting? In this course, we will explore fundamental drawing and watercolour techniques, and use them to create unique and creative illustrations. A variety of media will be used, including pencil, ink, charcoal, and pastels. Projects will include fantasy book illustration, botanical illustration, portraiture, and more. A balance of technique and individual creativity will be promoted in this class.

Photography: An Introduction to Storytelling (English)

Gingerbread House Workshop

SAC - GPS - Gingerbread House
2 participants for 1 price ($75 + HST) can come and create 1 beautiful hand built pottery Gingerbread House. You and a friend, you and your child (minimum age 7 years), or you and your partner will build 1 gingerbread house using clay slabs during this 3 hour workshop. Both participants will use hand building techniques such as coils and carving to embellish your unique house. Once the house is constructed and decorated participants will use under-glaze to paint the house. Our technicians will take care of firing the house in our kilns. Your gingerbread house will be ready in 3 weeks after the workshop for you to pick up.
