Kamancello, comprised of Shahriyar Jamshidi and Raphael Weinroth-Browne, is an East-meets-West duo whose music transcends genres and cultural boundaries. Their highly evocative improvised performances unite the Kurdish kamanche with the classical cello while travelling beyond both musical traditions.

The duo has made waves with performances at Montreal's Place des Arts for Festival du Monde Arabe, the Tirgan Festival at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre, the Canadian Opera Company, the Aga Khan Museum’s concert series, and the Cello Biennale Amsterdam. Recorded in one take, their self-titled debut album, which includes 6 improvised pieces, has been met with unanimous critical acclaim. In May 2019, Kamancello made their orchestral debut performing their own double concerto “Convergence Suite” with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra to an enthusiastic sold-out audience.

Their second full-length album, Kamancello II: Voyage, is out now.
