Thursday, October 18, 2018
Exhibit at 6 pm (Free)
Concert at 7:30 pm ($15)

The exhibit, The Power of Free Spirit and the concert, Hebrew Melody, are events commemorating the Bulgarian Jews during the Holocaust.

The rescue of Bulgarian Jews is an outstanding historical example that shows that through personal and political courage, civic conscience and determination can counteract the most obscurantist policy. A readiness to help and pity are a powerful weapon in the hands of citizens. Human rights and the guaranteeing of human rights are indispensable for peace and progress and must not be compromised by any policy.

Works by classical Jewish composers as well as Yiddish songs for hope, aspiration and peace will be performed.

Exhibition panels display photographs, facsimiles and text that follow how events developed – on the international stage, the position of the authorities and the response of the Bulgarian public. More information about the exhibit may be found here.
