Enjoy fresh interpretations of classic recital pieces by violinist Mary-Elizabeth Brown with piano accompaniment drawn from “show pieces.” Revel in the romantic “Salut d’amour,” the classic American “Banjo and Fiddle” and Zabach’s “Hot Canary.” Light and playful pieces to delight you on a Sunday afternoon.

Savour in a chamber music showcase of regional musicians in a cabaret-style setting in the beautiful lower lobby which also includes freshly baked croissants and coffee.

About Mary-Elizabeth Brown

Canadian violinist Mary-Elizabeth Brown has delighted audiences around the world and earned accolades for her passionate interpretations and skilled command of her instrument. Fresh from tours of Europe, Asia, North and South America as a soloist, Brown has worked with some of the most noted conductors of our time. This fall she takes the stage in Ottawa playing a 1766 Giuseppe Gagliano violin on loan from an anonymous donor.A performer and teacher, Mary-Elizabeth began studying the violin in her local Suzuki program at five years old and holds degrees from the University of Toronto and l’Université de Montreal, where she received the Prix d’Excellence en Interpretation in 2006. In addition to being heard on many radio and television broadcasts, she has recorded for numerous music labels. In recent seasons, Mary-Elizabeth has toured as a soloist.

About Ottawa Suzuki Strings

A music school providing violin, viola, cello, guitar and voice instruction using the Suzuki method, their experienced faculty have music degrees and are trained in Suzuki pedagogy. Students range from very young “Twinklers” to advanced students in Stellae Boreales. The combination of private lessons, group classes, and performance opportunities gives students a broad and exciting music experience. Many students have distinguished themselves competing in local and provincial competitions, and have also had the opportunity to perform in other Canadian cities and overseas.
