Irène sur mars

Presented by: MIFO

Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 8 pm

While her son would like to send her to a nursing home without her consent, Irène shows up at his home to give him an earful and let him know that she has signed up for a popular project to colonize Mars and… she’s a finalist! This sets the stage for a fantastical comedy featuring Pauline Martin and Gary Boudreault, among others. The evening the names of those who are chosen are scheduled to be announced, Irène hosts a going-away party that is at once dizzying and nostalgic. Over the course of the evening, Irène will settle the score with her own demons and the world she is preparing to leave… if she is chosen.

In this irreverently cheeky work, playwright Jean-Philippe Lehoux and director Michel-Maxime Legault have joined forces and offered up this story about a difficult exchange and a lack of understanding: the words of a woman who is on the verge of old age and who has nothing to lose.
