Inside the Orchestra: At the Proms!

Presented by: Ottawa Symphony Orchestra

Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 1 pm

Have you ever wondered what it is like to see into the inner workings of an orchestra?

How all those violinists manage to move their bows at the same time with the same intensity?

And how all the winds and brass manage to play together from different parts of the stage?

Alain Trudel will lead the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra through a public rehearsal of selections from the following program:

  • Healy Willan, Overture to a Written Comedy
  • M. Bruch, Scottish Fantasy op. 46 / Fantaisie écossaise, op. 46
  • E. Elgar, Enigma Variations / Variations Enigma
  • E. Elgar, Pomp and Circumstances March #1 /Pomp and Circumstances, Marche no 1

Watch Trudel's artistic vision come to life as he discusses the historical context and musical style of this repertoire all whilst balancing the sounds of one hundred passionate musicians. Families welcome!
