Un village en trois dés presents a new foray into the rich labyrinth that is Fred Pellerin’s village, Saint-Élie-de-Caxton. The legendary characters are all here: Méo, the hair-tousling barber, Toussaint, the generous merchant, the beautiful Lurette, among many others. On this sixth narrated voyage, we also get to meet Alice, the village’s first female mail carrier, who knows how to lick envelopes both ways – to seal them as well as open them – and the new priest, who has been sent by the bishop to reignite the faith that had been fading in Caxton at the time. She’s got a stamp on her tongue and he’s got a host stuck to the roof of his mouth. While the mail carrier struggles to make the words reach their destination in the way the sender intended, the man of the cloth attempts to keep the lines of communication open between all the people and the Almighty.

In both cases, the task at hand is far from simple. And there must come a time when the trajectories cross. Un village en trois dés presents a few stories that are balanced on a little cube that is either random or Providential. These tales will inspire laughter, keen interest and more. There will be talk of love, war and death as every throw becomes an act of faith and its great mysteries.
