5th Annual New Year's Eve Comedy Night

Presented by: Shenkman Arts Centre Presents

Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 9 pm

Don’t miss our annual comedy extravaganza! It’s always a sold-out event, so get your tickets early. This year three Canadian comedians will be sharing the stage: Terry McGurrin, Christina Walkinshaw and K. Trevor Wilson.

Terry McGurrin
Actor, comedian and writer Terry McGurrin is from right here in Ottawa. Terry is the only performer to have been nominated for Canadian Comedy Awards in four separate categories: Live Stand Up, Radio Performance, Television Writing, and Television Directing. He’s also the only comedian to have taped three Comedy Now Specials for CTV and a regular guest on CBC's The Debaters. He has been nominated for four Geminis, two Canadian Screen Awards, and is the winner of the 2014 ACTRA Award for his portrayal of Scaredy Squirrel on the hit YTV series. What Terry is most proud of is having been overseas to entertain the Canadian Forces eight times.

Christina Walkinshaw
Vancouver born stand-up comic now living in Toronto who has made an impact in a relatively short career. Her half-hour Comedy Now special often repeats in the middle of the night on CTV and the Comedy Network, while you're sleeping. She was nominated for Best Female Stand UpComic in the 2012 and 2014 Canadian Comedy Awards. (She was working on new material in 2013.) You can catch her on CBC's The Debaters, and check out her popular blogs, My Week on Tinder and Resisting Marriage at walkinsauce.tumblr.com. (Which have also been featured in the Huffington Post.) She's appeared at The Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, JFL42, The Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Vancouver Comedy Festival, Glasgow Comedy Festival, and has also entertained troops in South Korea. In February 2014 she graced the cover of Toronto's entertainment magazine, NOW Weekly, also contributing a powerful article on embracing the single life.

K. Trevor Wilson
Has spent over half his life in entertainment. A graduate of the Etobicoke School of the Arts, he started as a child actor before making the move to stand-up comedy 11 years ago. As an actor, his TV credits range from Goosebumps to Breakout Kings and film roles like Score: A Hockey Musical.

As a stand-up comic he has headlined shows all over Canada, is the only two time winner of the Toronto Comedy Brawl, has won the 2012 Just for Laughs Homegrown Comic Competition and worked with the likes of Mick Foley, Todd Glass and Brent Butt. Big things continue to happen for this big man, the self-proclaimed Man Mountain of Comedy. Trevor performed on a CBC gala at the 2011 Winnipeg Comedy Festival hosted by Brent Butt, won the Irwin Barker Award at the 2012 Homegrown Competition at Just For Laughs, and was handpicked to open for both Patton Oswalt and Louis CK at the first JFL 42.
