Innovation Pod

The Innovation Pod is a completely solar powered mobile "lab", used to bring the resources available at the newly-opened Innovation Centre at Bayview Yards out into the Ottawa community. The Innovation Pod is equipped with 3D printers, Virtual Reality goggles and digital media equipment which the team uses to host community workshops and deliver services to local businesses. In addition to workshops, they will also be inviting social enterprises to come and leverage these resources to support social innovation.

Join Dom Laporte and Komi Olaf, both renowned artists in their respective fields, as they dive in and create an engaging work of art inside the Innovation Pod, leveraging the available technology. Dom will be adding his personal contribution to the ongoing mural inside the pod while giving insights into his creative process and extensive body of work. Komi will be performing spoken-word poetry through the HTC Vive.

Join a discussion around house sustainability with building experts. Learn how to adapt new technologies to make your home more efficient.

3 pm - 5 pm

April 27: Rhythm and Virtual reality Blues - Dance meets VR to create abstract forms

Come see dancers engaged with HTC Vive using tilt brush to create shapes and forms through dance in a virtual space. The workshop will take us step by step from converting the forms created by the dancers into a digital 3D model and a 3D-printed version of the resulting work. Featuring Kalkidan Assefa

April 28: Innovation POD-cast - Discussions on innovation in Orléans

The staff from Shenkman Arts Centre will discuss innovation in the Arts and the influence of technology on their programs.
