Following a serious paragliding accident, the wealthy and sophisticated Philippe was left quadriplegic, dependent on others for all the tasks of daily life. Tired of being pitied by his regular nurses, he is pleasantly surprised when he interviews Louis, a rude and lazy young man with no job qualifications who only wants to go home and wait for his welfare cheque. His unflinching attitude and his irreverence make him the perfect companion for Philippe, who longs to maintain autonomy and dignity despite the circumstances. Intouchables is the story of an improbable meeting of two men from very different social classes but who share an intelligence that unites them. While one prefers classical music and the other video games, each is fascinated by the other’s intensity of spirit and refusal to bow to the rest of the world. Exposing to each other their vulnerabilities in matters of love and family, they form a bond that gives them the strength to transcend themselves, ultimately learning to like each other and forming an unstoppable team.
